Lawn tennis which is the formal name for the game of tennis which is played on a grass court by two opposing players using a racket to hit a ball which has to bounce back over the net.
In Nigeria, the sports of lawn tennis is not unpopular, as there many Nigerians who participates in the game though mostly as a recreation sport with some few who has an interest in participating fully in the game as a professional sport.
The world governing body of the sport, International tennis federation (ITF) initiated the rules guiding the game of table tennis. In table tennis, each player is entitled to only bounce the ball once when it has been stroked by another opponent to return above the net within the authorized measurement of the court.
It is known to be a racket sports which is played on a court using a racket and rubber ball. The game can be played by two (singles) or four (doubles) as an indoor or outdoor game. The court where the games are played can be sand, grass, clay, turf, concrete or wood.
Lawn tennis is now one of the most popular sports widely played globally and in the Olympics as well, and in Nigeria, the Federation for the sports tennis in the country is striving to make it compete with other sports like football though it is f recent growing in terms of popularity more than before.
